12/12/99 - A magnitude 6.8 earthquake devastated our San Andres Church. A misfortune that galvanized our community to restore our common bond and heritage, Masinloquenos from homeand far away were moved to answer the challenge.  From the start our "shepherd" consulted people and groups in the know of our predicament.  Concerned Masinloquenos all over dedicated themselves to do whatever thay can to restore our "pueblo."  Our "foot soldiers" tirelessly shuttled between Masinloc and Manila enumerable times to make sure that we are doing the right thing.  As our friends and "kababale" did what they have been doing, a blessing came our way. In 7/31/01 the Philippine National Museum pronounced our church one of the twenty six National Cultural Treasures of the Philippines.  The restoration process seemed like a snail pace because of the inherent protocols and procedures that we have to adhere with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, National Historical Institute and the National Museum.  This we have come to live with and tested our patience.  We knew we are working on something special that we can be proud of so we endured.  We are now at least 50%
complete and work is continously on going.  Everyone's additional moral and financial support will be critical through all these stages and we are hoping many will heed this call.  Brochure of needed items to the finishing stages of the restoration are being distributed.
